ABOUT ME

Finding the right therapist is important. Not only someone who is competent and qualified, but someone you feel comfortable with and where you feel truly heard and understood as a person.

My Qualifications/Experience

I have been a counsellor/psychotherapist for over 15 years and have a wealth of experience of working with a diverse range of people presenting with a diverse range of issues and difficulties.

  • I qualified at The University of Nottingham with a First Class Honours Degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice
  • I am fully accredited by the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. This ensures that I provide a safe and quality assured service
  • I have an OCN Level 3 Specialist Certificate for working with male and female survivors of sexual violence (rape/sexual abuse) and have extensive experience of working in this sector
  • I provide short term solution focused therapy for businesses where staff may present with issues that are affecting their well-being and their performance at work
  • I spent many years managing clinical services which has given me first hand experience and insight into management/leadership roles and the demands and challenges that can be faced in such positions
  • I have a keen interest in matters relating to the menopause and deliver talks on a Menopause Retreat to women impacted by the emotional/psychological impacts of being peri/post menopausal

My Approach

There are different types of counselling and some may be more suited to you than others. My own belief is that a “one size fits all” approach is unhelpful. As a Person Centred therapist, my focus is therefore about you as an individual and the unique feelings and experiences that you bring. It is about understanding and uncovering how you have been impacted by those feelings/experiences, how to make changes that are right for you and so begin a journey of self-discovery, personal learning, renewed strengths and resilience, and ultimately in personal growth and change – tailored to your needs. My approach also remains up-to-date and reflective of latest research and developments into neuroscience and the connection between mind, body and brain.

“What you are to be, you are now becoming”

Working Together

At the heart of my practice is creating a therapeutic relationship with you based on trust, respect, empathy and compassion. Research shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to successful outcomes and promoting positive change. It’s essential that you feel safe and connected with a therapist so that you can comfortably start to explore your difficulties knowing that what you share will be truly heard, understood and not judged.

Feel free to get in touch to see if I can help with your particular issues and difficulties. I am happy to offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to see if I can help you and to see whether you feel I am the right therapist for you.

Professional Regulation

I am fully accredited by the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their professional boundaries and ethical principles to ensure a safe, effective and high quality service.
